DIAGON ALLEY IS NOW ON THE SYSTEM! As of the beginning of July 2009, this community will no longer be used to track transactions in the Alley. Comments on the shop posts and vault reservations will be disabled. We will continue to take comments and questions in this post.
To begin using the site, you need to register your LiveJournal username with a password.
To access the System's Diagon Alley, please click this link. This is the storefront. You can click to the different shops and then make purchases with just a few clicks of your mouse, with no more waiting for a moderator to approve purchases and change your items owned.
To view your items owned, please click this link. This page defaults to your personal items owned, but you must be logged into the System to use it.
Please be aware that, once you spend knuts, they're gone. There are no refunds; all purchases are final. If you change houses, contact the Diagon moderator to exchange house-specific items (robes, scarves, patches) with ones for your new house. If you accidentally purchase something that you don't need, or more than one of something, the knuts are gone and the extra item will be removed from your box.
More features will be added to the System as opportunity allows. Please be watching

Date: 2009-07-19 05:18 pm (UTC)So okay the whole "pets dying" thing has been bothering me horribly just because it is so sad. XD
What if, instead of that, we have to buy food for our pets, and if you don't have food for them, they run away or the Ministry SPCA comes and reclaims them and you have to buy them again to get them back/get a new one?
For example, since a cat is 15 knuts/year, you have to buy cat food which is 3 knuts/term, or you could have a pay as you go for 1 knut/month. Or a toad could be 2 knuts/month or 5 knuts for the whole year. (Or, hell, you could make the food prices a little higher than the animal, because maybe the system makes sure they have food every month and if you don't, you end up having to buy a new pet so if you don't feed 'em you'd be coughing up 15 knuts/month to keep a cat? XD)
I'm not sure if there's anything in the system that could check to make sure you own one item before it lets you own another, or if that could be coded in, or how that would work. But I think it would be kind of neat to feed our pets and then people would have to work to keep buying stuff but not have their pets taken away. XDD Since man, people are taking this very seriously. 8D (Myself included. NOT MAI VIRTUAL CAAAAT D:)

Can you help me out, have i done something wrong, or am i just dense?

Date: 2009-07-26 03:05 pm (UTC)This is an interesting idea. I also thought about maybe relabeling pet ownership as a license. In order to "own" the pet, you have to purchase an expiring license for it. I don't know where you live, but that's the way some of the local governments in the US handle pet regulations. In the System, if your license expires and you don't renew, then you lose the pet.
At any rate, it's something to consider once I've taken care of the changes that need to happen in this community. I've got to disable commenting in a lot of places and set up redirects. I'll be working on that this week.

3) Your current balance is insufficient to purchase a Firebolt, so you have to wait for the knuts drop to purchase one anyway. Sas will do that soon.

I'm a 'big badger' in Puff and as I was about to contact my new little badger I realised I have no idea how this is done now. I've poked around the system a bit, but I figure I might not be able to see how it's done since I already have one?
